understand yourself


self management:
  • know your rhythms of performance
  • look at sleep needs
  • become aware of actions and responses
  • be gentle on yourself (realistic expectations, rest, health, treats)
  • you are what you consume
  • delay gratification - enjoy the pleasure of expectation
  • fast and feast
  • live in the present

when it gets tough:
  • anticipate manic times and prepare accordingly
  • request support from those closest to you
  • get a short term coach
  • go back to basics
  • renegotiate scope, deadlines, quality - early
  • consider the worst case – and see that life goes on
  • watch out for escapism (TV, over-drinking, etc.)
  • if the problems are more serious – get professional help
  • remember the change curve
