prepare for the journey
be deliberate:
know what is really important
avoid the slavery of the urgent
do the important things on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual cycle
build capability – in yourself and others
pursue the path of resistance
take small bites of big problems
time to plan is important – but don’t overdo it
invest in important relationships (spouse, children, friends, team)
finding time:
do a time audit for a day
eliminate unplanned trivia
cut out random TV/computer games
put boundaries around time (eg. one hour for email)
handle things once
become aware of attention and distractions and what is causing them
say no at least three times a day … nicely
be ruthless in cutting out non-core activities
